The Gold Net is a dupatta crocheted entirely in tilla — gold thread worked into an open lattice, with a large sequin disc anchored at every intersection. Each disc is stamped with a radial sunburst, so that when light moves across it, the surface doesn't simply shine — it pulses. Held up, it is nearly transparent, skin visible through the grid like something seen through afternoon rain. Draped, it settles with a weight so slight it registers more as warmth than fabric.
From the first sketch to the final stitch, The Gold Net represents an estimated 28 hours of human attention. The tilla thread is first tested for tension — a crochet net of this scale must hold its geometry across the full length without pulling or distorting. The grid is then worked by hand, row by row, each intersection knotted to hold its shape. At every crossing, a sequin disc is individually threaded and anchored — hundreds of them, each turned so its sunburst faces outward. The border is reinforced last, worked slowly so the dupatta falls straight and even when worn.
