Marée is a hand-beaded blouse built entirely from pearl — rows upon rows of moti work that move from the neckline downward like water finding its own level. The shoulders dissolve into cascading pearl fringe, and the back opens to a bare spine, closed only by a single pearl tassel that hangs like the last drop of a retreating tide. A piece that asks nothing of the room and takes all of it.
From the first sketch to the final stitch, Marée represents an estimated 40 hours of human attention. A designer sits with the idea first — perhaps a week of drawings before a single bead is touched. The base fabric is then cut and prepared, each panel mapped and marked by hand. Then the beading begins: one pearl at a time, threaded and placed, the fringe strands knotted individually so that each falls with the same weight as the last. The tassel at the back — that small, deliberate punctuation — alone takes an afternoon.
