Dusty mauve warms every metal laid on it, which is why the embroidery here reaches for ivory thread, pearl and pale gold rather than silver alone: paisley and trailing leaf motifs, set close across the bodice and opening out toward the hem of the kurta.
Each motif is worked by hand, thread, pearl and sequin in turn, with the patience dense paisley asks for. A cut-out at the waist, hung with pearl drops, shapes the short kurta. The wide-legged palazzo and dupatta are in a crushed metallic tissue that shifts from mauve to rose as it moves, the dupatta finished with a scalloped lace border.
